  • In addition to TEŽ trains, the reconstructed line also carries – 5 new hybrid cog units and 1 multifunctional locomotive from the renowned Swiss manufacturer Stadler Bussnang AG, without the need for passengers to change trains at the point where the two independent systems (OŽ and TEŽ) currently meet.
  • The multifunctional hybrid locomotive, capable of running on cog track and adhesion track, on electric or diesel power, will be used primarily for maintenance and in the event of emergency clearance or to power the snow blower during a calamity, when there may also be an interruption in the electrical supply.

New design

  • The new units also brought a new design to the TEŽ and OŽ lines with a reference to the mountaineering tradition and the peaks of the High Tatras.
  • The trains are named after 5 less known hills: Vysoká, Stredohrot, Kostolík, Bradavica a Ganek.
  • The graphic design uses the central part of the train to represent the hill and the ascent path to it. Pictograms refer to the difficulty and necessary equipment. The time commitment is approximate and takes into account the approach from the nearest train stop. The name of the hill, together with the height above sea level, fills the space below the windows.
  • The capacity of the new units is 165 passengers (91 seats + 2 wheelchair spaces).
  • Units are equipped with: wi-fi system, air conditioning, modern information system, video system, multi-purpose space for transporting prams, bicycles, skis, sledges and sports equipment and passenger counting equipment.
  • The design of the new cog railway trains was based on the high mountain environment, such as fauna and flora, and the magical atmosphere of the evening sunset in the Tatra mountains was also an inspiration. More about the new ZSSK design can be found in the video.
  • A lot of new hills will also be added to the TEŽ lines with the upgrade of the 425.95 series units. Our vehicles will take you to the most beautiful Tatra peaks.
  • In addition to technical improvements, interior changes, they will also bear the name of the peaks of the High Tatras, which will be reflected in the exterior.

Illustration photo

  • The High Tatras have been connected by ecological transport since 1908 when the Tatra Electric Railway (TEŽ) started to operate. In 1970 they were joined by the Cog railway (OŽ), which became one of the three main attractions in the High Tatras.
  • During its existence more than 16 million passengers have been carried. During its existence it carried more than 16 million passengers. Its modernisation, together with the TEŽ, creates a solid basis for an integrated transport system and is crucial from the point of sustainability and the environmental point of view in such an important region of Slovakia as the High Tatras region
