Children in social institutions

When travelling to visit the children stationed in the institutions for social-legal protection and social guardianship, you are entitled to 50 % discount from the regular fare in the 2nd Class coaches. To apply the discount, you will need a written confirmation from the institution or the school where the child is stationed.

  • The discount of 50 % from the regular fare is provided for the parents or other statutory representatives,
  • The discount is designed for visiting the physically, mentally or sensuously handicapped or chronically ill children, who are stationed in the special boarding schools, social service institutions and in the health-care institutions on the territory of the Slovak Republic and for visiting the children stationed in the institutions for social-legal protection and social guardianship.
  • the 2nd Class coaches from the station closest to the residential address of the parents (statutory representatives) to the station closest to the address of the institution where the child is stationed and back,
  • the discount can be used also for the trains of EC and SC category – with the surcharge of 1 €,
  • the discount for the return journey can be applied no later than on the first day following the visit.
  • the discount of 50 % can be provided only based on the special card issued and confirmed by the institution or the school where the child is stationed. For the return journey, it is necessary to have the card stamped and signed by an authorized employee of the institution/school where the child is stationed,
  • the train personnel may ask for the identity document.
