Company Vision
The share of ZSSK in passenger transport has been declining for some years. In past this was caused mainly by more flexible and geographically more accessible bus transport. Nowadays, the individual car transport and boom of low-cost airline carriers are the main factors for losing passengers.
To achieve the strategic aims of the company in passenger transport means to stop this decline, stabilize the volume of customers by underlining the advantages of the railway transport and gain new customers in the future. Moreover, the next three years should see the completion of the public administration reform and shift of original competencies for public service procurement to the regional authorities.
Safety and environmental friendliness are the highest credit of ZSSK. Besides safety, the quality of passenger transport is also crucial. It is the first condition of the customers´ satisfaction. It is, therefore, the major challenge to enhance the culture of travelling by rail. Comfortable journeys providing opportunity to relax, or use the journey time effectively, especially when travelling for longer distances, become more and more the European way of travelling, preferred to individual transport.
Having analyzed the situation, ZSSK sees the major possibilities for the future in increasing of train connections, more efficient use of the existing rolling stock, and growth of train personnel productivity. The new rolling stock shall make use of the new opportunities (foreign investments), as well as of the high mobility of the population, while profiting of the non-existent serious competition (thanks to connecting natural regional centres in a convenient way).
The future company direction is influenced by internal and external conditions that should enable:
- long-term financial stability and growth of Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, a.s.,
- stabilisation and increase of the current market share in the environment of the market economy of the Slovak Republic and the EU,
- competitiveness on the domestic and international market,
- continuous increase of customer satisfaction and enhancement of company performance,
- positive company image attracting creative and talented people,
- focusing on the core business of the company, while outsourcing various services.
