Children under 6
Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, a.s. transports children up to 6 years old free of charge if they are accompanied by a person older than 15 years with a valid ticket. In this case you may accompany two children under 6 free of charge, unless you require more than one seat for them. For each other child under 6 you have to pay a half-fare for the 1st or 2nd class.
In case you plan to travel by trains with obligatory seat reservations, you have to buy the seat reservation for each child under or over 6.
Children aged from 6 to 15
Children over 6 and up to 15 years old are transported for a half-fare for the 1st or 2nd class. At ticket inspection you have to prove the age of the child by any official document with a photograph, name, surname and date of birth or birth certificate number. If a child does not have such a document, we will issue it free of charge, based on the birth certificate and the identification card of one of the parents. The obligation to prove a child's age is also required for children between the ages of 5-15 years.
What else should you know?
When travelling by a SC, EC or IC train you have to pay a reduced supplementary charge of 0,66 EUR.
When travelling by an IC train with obligatory seat reservation, couchette or berth trains, you have to buy a seat reservation, couchette or berth ticket pursuant to the calendar of strong and weak days.
