Persons with Reduced Mobility

Physically disabled passengers
Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko operates special coaches in selected trains with lifting ramp for passengers in wheelchairs, including a special, modified compartment and hygienic facility for disabled passengers.
Coaches transporting persons with reduced mobility are marked in the train timetable with a pictogram of a wheelchair in the heading of a train. In general, they are all IC trains and selected fast trains. Certain trains have coaches without lifting ramp, but have one compartment adapted for the needs of passengers in wheelchairs. Getting on and off the train has to be arranged by the passenger or his/her accompanying person.
Transport of a person with reduced mobility has to be ordered in advance at the customer telephone line 18 188, or at the sale point of the given railway station or in the Customer Centre at least 48 hours before the planned journey. After ordering the journey, the passenger is obliged to arrive to the train station at the latest 30 minutes before train departure and notify an authorized employee of ZSSK.

Even though it is the obligation of a passenger to verify the correctness of the ticket after it is purchased (date, class, departure and arrival stations, price and seat reservation, train and coach number if applicable), blind people have a more difficult situation. Therefore, they should ask the employee of ZSSK, who sold them the ticket, to verify the correctness of the ticket for them.
